Getting it right in Regent’s Park
When this stunning Regent’s Park property underwent a complete period renovation the owners, who work from home, specified a full office set up. They also wanted a multiroom entertainment system, Lutron lighting and a comprehensive security system. ClearSphere became involved half way through the process after the clients were let down by their original installers. The system was too complicated and they didn’t feel their needs were being met. ClearSphere took over where the old company left off and made a number of changes and additions that have created a system that meets the client’s aspirations.
Intuitive to use
A big problem with the specified system was the sheer number of buttons. Light switches had up to 25, controlling both lighting and audio and, worse still, the switches were installed at hip level making them impossible to see without bending down. AV equipment was controlled by a number of different remotes making even the simplest task complicated.
To overcome this problem. we added Phillips Pronto touch-screen remotes, programmed to make choosing activities simple and intuitive. Where once the clients had to press 5 different buttons, on 2 separate remotes to watch Sky television, they now simply have to touch the ‘Sky’ icon on the touch-screen. The remotes will also access music stored on the Systemline audio system and let the client easily browse through tracks and playlists.
“The touch screen remotes have made the whole system so much more intuitive”
This was an architectural home with a large glass atrium and many substantial rooms. Early in our involvement it became clear that the specified heating control system would be inadequate and probably cost the owner many hundreds of pounds per year in extra heating bills. ClearSphere developed heating controls that ensure rooms are heated to the right level and only when necessary. It also lets the client’s select programmes that reflect the way they are using the home and the number of guests they have staying.
Putting the client first
At ClearSphere we realise there is a big difference between a system that works and a system that works the way the client wants it to. Our goal before all else is to meet our client’s individual needs and from time to time this requires something a little different.
In this case the client had two particular peeves, both of which the previous installer had said could not be rectified: A door bell that could not be heard from outside, meaning the person on the doorstep had no idea if they had been heard and electric curtains that could only be controlled via a remote control. Lateral thinking and sound electrical engineering provided solutions to both issues; now the door bell rings outside and buttons installed in the bedside tables activate the electric curtains.
“ClearSphere provided a solution where others said there wasn’t one, that works for me!”
Retained expertise
The clients were so happy with their system they now have ClearSphere on a retainer to advise them on all their technology needs. They have also asked us to specify and install a complete system for a second home, currently under construction.
“Finding good people in this area has proved very difficult. Now we have ClearSphere working for us, we don’t want to loose them!”
